FORGIVENESS AND GRACE

Forgiveness is something that never comes easy, especially when a trust has been broken and we are left broke hearted. It is not easy to move on but that does not mean it is impossible either. Before we are quick to point the finger at those who have hurt us in some way let us focus on the forgiveness of God towards us. The Bible informs us we have all fallen (Romans 3:21-26). Confessing our sins, acknowledging where we are at fault or wrong and doing something about it is important. What good is it if we just know but do not do anything about it? It benefits no one. (1 John 9-10) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. (Ephesians 1:7) In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. How great to know that the Lord does not bring up our past, that what we have done in the past stays there unless of course we engage in it again (2 Corinthians 5:17) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (Psalm 103:12) As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. When we call upon the Lord, he will be there to help us, His mercy towards us is seen daily. (Psalm 86:5) For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. God wants us to have a relationship with him, it is not about seeking God when we are in trouble, to get out of the situation we got ourselves into. It is about humbling ourselves, before Him and doing what is right before the eyes of the Lord. He has promised to be there in the struggle, but we must come clear about the mess we sometimes get ourselves into. (Isaiah 1:18) Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Grace is unmerited favor. We were destined for destruction, condemned to die in our sins. Nonetheless there was One who paid the price, the price for redemption. Just when nothing seemed to be in our favor. There is One who stepped in, just in time to save us (Hebrew 12:12-17; 13:7-9). (James 4:6) But He gives more grace. Therefore, He says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. How wonderful, to have a God that not only forgives but also gives us grace something we do not deserve but glory to God, Jesus paved the way to our salvation and now we are free to make a choice in life whether to serve the Lord in spirit and truth or look the other way. The choice stands before you today. What will you decide depends solely on you!
