JESUS, MY TRUE FRIEND

According to webster's dictionary and thesaurus defines the word friend as: Someone who is personally well known by oneself and for whom one holds warm regards. A supporter, ally, companion, intimate associate, advocate, comrade, patron, acquaintance, defender.

Because of the bond you have with this person you get to know a friend on a level other only see as one they heard about but never really got to know. Friends know what they are like, what they engage in, what they dislike etc. They know the way they think, act, or behave because they have witnessed their behavior over a period of time and through interactions, they find out information or secrets about each other. A true friend does not cause harm to others but looks out for the wellbeing of others. We all have friends, some more than others but how far will a friend go to save you from harm, save your family and even your soul from hell? In Spanish there is a saying tell me who you walk with and I will tell you who you are. This because as friends you pick up on customs, ideas etc. from each other. Many call themselves Christian but their lifestyles depict something extremely far from the example Jesus left us. People say they know Jesus, but do they really know him? Have they really spent time with him? Do they just look for him when they have problems or are in trouble? Can we really state what is your relationship with him? Or do you just know him as one who died on the Cross of Calvary? It is time to get to know who your Savior is? Why he gave his life for us and in doing so this redemptive work was only the beginning of things he would do for us. Jesus knew the only way for man to reconcile with God was through him (Isaiah 53:4-6). The Holy Ghost is present to guide us through this Christian walk as we submit in service. Not only did he give his life for us but also the benefits we have through him. Jesus is the example for us to follow. He has freed us from the slavery of sin. When the disciples were with him, they got to know him personally. They shared with him, learned from him, and even witnessed miracles. There is no other way only through Jesus can we have communion with God the Father. Many have looked for many other ways, but Jesus said he is the truth… (John 14:6; 16:7,13).

In the Bible we read about certain people that came as though they were followers and we told Jesus and Paul we know but who are you? We all know the story and how they ended up (Acts 19:11-17). When we truly know our Lord and Savior, we will reflect him in our behavior, works etc. Sadly, today we see people following people instead of following Christ. No matter what others say and do as true worshipers, servants of God we rely on the word of God, discernment of the Holy Ghost and not on our own opinions or the opinions of others. Our opinions do not hold weight because they are just that opinions and not facts. However, the word of God are facts, filled with history of ancient times with enough information to minister to us today as well (John 14:26; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:9; 1 Corinthians 12:7-12; John 4:23-24). I may know people and have friends BUT on one can take the place of Jesus!

JESUS MI AMIGO FIEL
